A Trip to Mars (Silent film)
This is an idea that was a combination of two groups coming together and taking ideas of what was initially suggested as a Jurassic Park adaptation performing it as a black and white silent movie to change into something completely different and new. So after a session of discussion the simple draft story we came up with was:
5 explorers and their robot step down from their space ship. They encounter some strange creatures who, at an unheard signal, all scamper away in fear, pointing offstage and miming a spider. The group finds some cobwebs with regular sized spiders of which they are not afraid. Then, the legs of a massive monster spider appear and capture a couple of the company. The robot saves the rest by distracting, then zapping the spider. The remainder get quickly back into the ship. As the space ship ‘leaves’ the spider twitches back into life.
The movie Jurassic Park has been awarded Oscars, BAFTA’s and many other awards, ‘King Kong’ and ‘Godzilla’ have also been nominated and awarded multiple times which we used as research along with the short clip ‘A Trip to The Moon’. All of these served as inspiration for how we would perform our piece. ‘A Trip to The Moon’ was the perfect inspiration for the feeling and environment we wanted for our piece.

This scene will be done with my acting year one group. A lot changed from the initial idea but this was our first progressing step:
A Hopeful Date (Notting Hill)
A scene idea that was suggested by the person whom I will be working with: Lauren Dunning, a student from the musical theatre course. This is the scene at the near end of the film ‘Notting Hill’ where the girl tells the famous line “I’m just a girl, standing in front of a boy”.
Our idea after struggling for a while was to change the location from a bookshop to a restaurant and add another person to be a waiter to say some extra lines. Since we’re in a restaurant we had to go back a few lines to include the moment where William’s mother calls him and the other guy has to keep her company. We also rewrote bits of the script to fit in with the theme of the restaurant.
‘Notting Hill’ also has multiple nominations and awards under the belt include ones from Golden Globes and BAFTA.

Bond is captured (James Bond torture spoof)
I suggested something along the lines of this as my secondary idea I don’t know who’s idea this actually was. I will be working on this scene with Justin and Ines and we plan to turn this into a torture that happens to a person on a daily basis that is not labelled as torture but instead as just annoying and bothersome. In one session with the group we managed to come up with this idea:
Starting with Justin’s casual day going through his annoying bits: someone showing a photo album forever; odd text messages; stuck in queue at supermarket due to someone taking too long with change. At the end both torturers come together to actually physically torture the person and he does not react because he’s had worse.
Of course we had a brainstorming of ideas that we could potentially do:
Repeating name over and over again.
People talking to you in annoying voice
Behind people in supermarkets
People trying to sing
People taking there cats
Woman and handbags
People paying for thing slowly
The inspiration for this would be from all of the James Bond movies. There would be James Bond, the typical villain and his glamorous assistant. The whole franchise has been nominated and won multiple awards over the years and we’re not even picking a single film for our recreation.
